my wife if from phetchabun and i have been there 4 or 5 times to visit here family , i can tell you that it is not for tourists , i feel the family of your girlfriend or wife will normally keep you safe , many people will look at you for the simple fact that they have not seen a farang ( forienger ) before , there are good people and bad people everywhere , this killing is very rare i think but it can happen to anyone in any country including your own .

when you go to the sticks( rice feilds ) just smile and be cool , stay in the most expensive hotel with a guard on the gates and dont go anywhere alone , thais love two things , the first is to gamble and the second is to drink (whisky ) try not to go out at night as this is mostly likey you made be robbed or even worse

I would like to ask if this person has done anything like this before, i know Ivor very very well and want to know more details on this. What is likely to be the sentence will any justice be done or we left with another satistic? Surley there must be some more evidence or imformation regarding this horrific attack and we as friends and family need to know, its very hard to find out imformation when you dont speak thai.. much appreciated if more can be collected.

Ivor Chandler was my first Cousin who visited us in Canada every two years. We have always found him to be a friendly, loving, caring person who was very helpful. He was my Mother’s Sister’s Son whom we spent much time with. He was just in Canada last summer for my Son’s wedding celebration and was planning a trip with us to the east coast of Canada this summer. His generosity precedes him as he brought each of his nieces and nephew to Canada for a visit so they would have some time with their Canadian Connection of the family. He did this so his sister could have a bit of a holiday as he was a loving and good brother. He loved his family and friends and was always generous with them all. I have only the fondest memories of him. My family and I are saddened over this completely unnecessary end to his life. I believe he did not expect any danger and this was a horrific turn of events for someone who only showed kindness to everyone. He will be missed by us all. I send my love to his remaining family and I will be in touch with them upon their return from Thailand. Thank you for letting me have my say about someone I loved. Yours truly Gloria van Geilswyk.

Thank you for the details about Ivor Chandler, the local newspaper from our area is not giving out much information.
My husband & I often met Ivor in Pattaya on our annual holidays in November each year, we met for coffee or visited his apartment for a chat.
We also had drinks with him in a local pub in Saltburn every New Year’s Eve when he was back in England. Will be sadly missed.
