‘Evil Man from Krabi’ Trial To Start Next Week – But new video shock
The trial of Chumpon Khoanuang the tourist sector worker who allegedly beat and raped a Dutch model in Krabi last year is due to start in Krabi provincial Court on February 4th.
But there has been no let up from Holland on the publicity surrounded the case. The video by the girl’s father which went viral on the internet which has had over a half a million hits was last night supplemented on YouTube by a new video – ‘Evil Man from Krabi – Remix’.
The new video mixes Thai cultural dancers switching to bar girls dancing provocatively. It has the message ‘Chumpon Khaomnuang Go to Jail Now!!!’
It adds the rider the rider ‘Let Justice Rule In The Name Of All Sexual Victims – Let’s Not Be Silent. Let’s not forget’.
The video includes scenes from the Thailand’s tourist hotspots.
It appears to demonstrate two sides to Thailand. While the cultural shots are plentiful, slipped in are a Khon Dance backstabbing scene, a man with a club, and a woman spreading her legs.
This is unlikely to please the authorities which clumsily last year attempted a damage limitation exercise which backfired badly.
Tourism Minister Chumphol Silapa-archa, who was reported in the Nation newspaper in Bangkok as saying the incident at the end of July 2012 could not be considered rape.
And the reason he gave for making that statement was that Police Major General Loi Inghaphairoj stated:
“The woman had dinner with the Thai suspect and a foreign man. Later she told the foreign man to return to the hotel before heading off with the suspect.”
It’s alleged the girl was badly beaten before being raped by Chumpon, from Koh Phangan.
